It is beyond the scope of this ‘Quick Guide’ to outline the implications of the Sex Discrimination Act 1995 and Race Relations Act 1996 for your employment.

Both apply to your employment. If you consider that you may have been discriminated against either on the grounds of your sex and/or race and need advice please contact your JBB office.

Since the 1st July 2000, if you work part time you have the right not to be unfairly treated compared with a full time member. As with sex or race discrimination claims, a complaint arising from this should be filed with an Employment Tribunal within three months less one day of the act complained of (although there is limited discretion to extend this time).
