We are just days away from this year’s Police Federation of England Wales (PFEW) Annual Conference and Staffordshire Police Federation members are being encouraged to contribute to the future of policing by being part of the two-day event.

The Conference, which is being held virtually this year, is being hosted by Talk TV presenter Ian Collins and will take place on Tuesday (10 October) and Wednesday (11 October).

It will be a mix of live broadcasts and pre-recorded presentations from senior Federation officials as well as experts in policing, Government, and the Home Office.

Chair of Staffordshire Police Federation Lee Robinson said: “It would be great if as many of our members as possible take the opportunity to be part of the conference and register their place as early as possible. As your Federation, the Conference is your chance to join the discussions on issues that affect you and your role.

“Over the two days, we will also set the priorities for the Federation going forward that will shape the future of policing. And with this year’s conference being held online, it will hopefully give more members the chance to get involved and ensure their voices are heard.”

Day one of the agenda includes discussions on leadership in policing, the Home Office review impact on independent panels, and disclosure and redaction, as well as retirement, misogyny, and Mutual Aid.

Industrial rights and wellbeing will be explored on day two when there will be a keynote address from PFEW chair Steve Hartshorn and a Q&A panel session.

The Conference will also recognise outstanding contributions to policing through the presentation of awards for excellence in roads policing, detectives, and women in policing.
