It is a new year and I want to take this opportunity to reassure all members that I pledge to continue to fight for your rights, with your welfare and mental health remaining a top priority for Staffordshire Police Federation.
The past two years have been challenging, to say the least. As we reflect on how far we have come as a nation, I would like to once again, applaud every single person in the Force. Our members have shown strength, courage, determination and professionalism during the pandemic and I am full of pride as I continue to represent you all again, as branch chair.
As I plan for the next 12 months, I must admit one of my main concerns remains to be around the mental health, wellbeing and low morale of members. I am determined to work hard this year to support members and I would like to remind everyone that the Police Federation is here for you, whenever you need us.
Last year’s disappointing pay freeze has not been forgotten and I can assure you that I will continue to battle for our members, so you get the pay rise you deserve. What happened last year was downright disrespectful and completely unacceptable.
When I started in this role, as chair, more than two years ago, I pledged to strengthen the relationship between the Federation and our members. I hope that, over that time, you will see that we have worked hard to improve the visibility of your team of representatives and also the communication between the Federation and the membership.
While the pandemic is not yet over, it looks like there might finally be light at the end of the tunnel this year. My thoughts are with anyone whose Christmas and festivities were not as they had planned or hoped.
To end, I will once again be wishing you and your loved ones a prosperous 2022 and remember, we are your Police Federation and we are always here for you.
As always, stay safe.
