A memorial service from Lincoln Cathedral paying tribute to officers who died in the line of duty is to be streamed for colleagues across the country.
The service marking National Police Memorial Day (NPMD) will take place from 2pm on Sunday 26 September, but due to Covid-19 the congregation numbers are restricted and by invitation only.
However, the event will be recorded and streamed on the NPMD website at 4pm.
Footage from the service will also be made available to all police forces for a commemorative event the following day.
Forces in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will join together in a unified act of remembrance at 11am on Monday 27 September.
The act of remembrance will be the culmination of a planned weekend of events marking NPMD, beginning with the lighting up of several landmark buildings, including Lincoln Cathedral itself, in blue on Saturday 25 September.
Staffordshire Police Federation chair Phil Jones says: “National Police Memorial Day is a chance to stand together to honour the memory of our fallen colleagues.
“Though the ceremony will once again look and feel a bit different to what we’re used to, there’s many ways we can join the policing family across the UK to show solidarity and respect for those who have given their lives.
“This weekend is one of the most important in the policing calendar – I encourage you to mark it any way you can.”
A virtual tribute wall is also now open on the website, allowing friends and family to leave messages commemorating those they have lost.
