Staffordshire Police Federation secretary Glyn Pattinson is encouraging members to make the most of The Police Treatment Centres limited-time amnesty.

The Police Treatment Centres (PTC) is offering the amnesty throughout September and October, which means serving and retired officers can donate to the charity and be eligible to receive treatment immediately, rather than waiting the usual 12 months.

The amnesty also applies to PCSOs, Special Constables, as well as detention and custody officers.

Speaking about the amnesty, Glyn said: “With officers usually having to wait a whole year to receive treatment from the PTC, this opportunity is too good to miss. I’m encouraging all members who are not currently signed up with the PTC to make the most of this two-month amnesty.

“Hopefully, this limited-time offer will encourage members who don’t already have access to the excellent support available via the PTC to take a look at what is on offer and consider subscribing.”

In support of the amnesty, staff from the PTC will be at the following stations:

  • 22 September - Lichfield
  • 23 September - Cannock
  • 28 September - HQ
  • 6 October - Hanley
  • 7 October - Burton

The PTC, a registered charity, offers treatment following an illness or injury. There are two centres, one in Harrogate, Yorkshire and the other in Auchterarder, Perthshire. There is also a remote physiotherapy service.

During the two-month amnesty, the PTC team will be hosting virtual information sessions on Teams, to help officers gain a better understanding of the work they do.

These will be held on:

  • 7 September, 10am: Tour of Castlebrae, Auchterarder
  • 8 September, 10am: Tour of St Andrews, Harrogate
  • 15 September, 10am: Physiotherapy information session
  • 16 September, 10am: Psychological wellbeing information session
