A series of online sessions are being held for officers approaching retirement to find out how to continue accessing the Police Treatment Centres’ services.

The events are aimed at officers who are due to retire in the next six months to help them remain eligible for the Police Treatment Centres and the St George’s Police Children Trust.

Hosted by the Police Treatment Centres, the first two sessions are being held on Friday 30 July at 10am and 3.30pm, followed by Friday 24 September (10am and 3.30pm) and Friday 26 November (10am and 3.30pm).

Staffordshire Police Federation secretary Glyn Pattinson said: “The Police Treatment Centres know the needs of serving and retired officers and have a wealth of experience in supporting them back to fitness.

“To have the knowledge that the centres are there for you in retirement should you need them will be reassuring.

“These sessions will give you everything you need to know,” he added.

Email fundraising@thepolicetreatmentcentres.org with your name, retirement date and preferred session time and date to register. A Microsoft Teams invite will be emailed the week before the event.

The Police Treatment Centres is a charity which provides treatment and support, including intensive, police-specific, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, for injured and ill police officers and retired officers.

It provides two treatment centres at St Andrews, in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, and Castlebrae in Auchterarder, Perthshire.

Almost 4,000 serving and retired officers attend the treatment centres each year and most receive intensive physiotherapy. Others seek support with stress-related conditions or anxiety and depression as part of the charity’s psychological wellbeing programme.

The St George’s Police Children Trust is a charity which aims to support police families by helping ease the financial pressures of bringing up children in the face of life-changing circumstances.
