Staffordshire Police Federation chair Phil Jones has welcomed the news that the Police Treatment Centres (PTC) will be re-opening next month.
Following months of temporary closure due to the ongoing pandemic, the charity’s centres in Harrogate and Auchterarder will be opening on Monday 26 April.
In line with the Government guidelines and clinical guidance, the psychological wellbeing programme will run at normal capacity but reduced numbers will be treated through the physiotherapy programme.
Phil says: “I’m extremely pleased to hear that the treatment centres are re-opening their doors again next month.
“The support and care they provide to officers is vital and I think it will prove even more important as we come out of this pandemic.”
The charity supports subscribing officers with treatment for psychological and physical injuries, conditions or illnesses.
Safety measures that were introduced last year at both centres are still in place, including a one-way system, the wearing of masks and social distancing. Those staying on site will all be asked to complete a screening questionnaire upon arrival and admission, with regular temperature checks taken throughout the day.
Due to current restrictions, hospitality bed and breakfast weekends are not available and those staying at the centres will not be able to be joined by their families at the weekend.
The re-opening of the centres will coincide with the hand-over of the new clinical services wing at Harrogate. The multi-million pound project will increase the number of bedrooms on site by 20. The refurbishment also provides extra counselling rooms, new complementary therapy rooms and an increased clinical workshop space and meeting facilities.
All those who had their residential treatment cancelled earlier this year due to the pandemic are being contacted. However, if you believe you should have received a phone call from the PTC and have not by 12 April then you are advised to contact the admissions team.
