A lot of officers believe that cancelled rest days are being unfairly allocated to the same persons over and over. The Federation have been made aware and have consulted with Cath Goodfellow over the issue
CRU have a spreadsheet that accounts for the number of rest days that officers have had cancelled and it comes in as a useful reference to assist when choosing the most appropriate officer. A number of factors can influence the allocation i.e. what shift the lock down falls on, the skill availability and also if an officer has been on annual leave, is restricted or off sick.
Where a shift falls can influence what staff to use as if it’s a late carrier and the officer is on at 0700 the following morning then that officer cannot be used due to the working time directive.
They are also trying to backfill a lot with non CMS staff therefore a wider pool is being chosen from.
