Police Memorial at Chillington Hall
Staffordshire Police Federation has recently dedicated a memorial fountain, which has been installed in the grounds at Chillington Hall (WV8 1RE), the home of former Chief Constable, John Giffard.
It commemorates all those officers who have lost their lives in the service of the force.
The fountain is sited in a newly planted wooded area to the rear of the Hall and affords a good view across Western Staffordshire.
For those who wish to visit an advance warning to email info@chillingtonhall.co.uk would be welcome as there are so many other events going on at the Hall and you may clash with a wedding party for example. We also want to avoid conflict with days when the Hall is open to the public on payment.
To approach go to the open cattle grid at the front of the Hall and go round to the back of the house, over another cattle grid and find a place to park. You are likely to see the memorial as you approach the last cattle grid.
It is approached up a gravel path, which will be difficult for wheelchair users, but is only some 100 yards from where you park your car.
Every endeavour will be made to keep the memorial clean but after heavy rain or leaf fall it sometimes operates less effectively.
There is no payment for those visiting the memorial unless you also visit the house.
